The results from the Society’s first membership survey are in!
In September 2007 the SoR launched an online survey to give members the opportunity to express their views on how the SoR is doing.
All groups of members were represented by the sample of 1,724 members who participated.
Overall, the results were positive with over 80% of those making contact with reps or SoR HQ saying the response is prompt and helpful.
It was reported that SoR journals Synergy News and Synergy are widely read and considered 'important, improved and useful' and the SoR online tool CPD Now is known by 93% of members.
Areas where members felt the SoR could improve included health and safety and more coverage for specialist groups.
Online learning also proved popular, with 95% of respondants saying they would like SoR to offer an on-line learning package and 44% asking for SoR information to be delivered electronically.
Richard Evans, SoR’s CEO, commented: “I’d like to thank everyone who took the time and trouble to tell us what they think.
“This is the first time the Society has surveyed its membership and although we would have liked a greater response, it is understandable that in the very pressurised clinical and educational environments our members work it is bound to be hard to find time.
“Some members may be sceptical that anything will come of the exercise. I hope that everyone will see changes and improvements to member services and that this will encourage a greater response when we conduct the next survey.”
