The nomination deadline is almost here for the SoR Radiography Student of the Year Award 2008.
The new award recognises outstanding achievement by radiography students.
Nominations are being coordinated through Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), with specific evidence also being requested from clinical placement contacts.
All HEIs received a nomination form in June but a downloadable version is available, with applications welcomed up until 31 July.
Samantha Jewell, SoR professional officer for students, is urging tutors to put their students forward: "The Radiography Student of the Year Award will honour a final year undergraduate member who represents the best of the profession's values.
“The presentations take place at the House of Commons before an invited audience of the ‘great and the good’ of radiography, plus members of parliament and a high profile guest who presents the awards.
“The awards are the ideal opportunity to raise the profile of radiography students and the work that they do."
The prize for the Student of the Year award is £250, a Fujifilm digital camera, plus a certificate commemorating the award.
The SoR Student Award runs alongside the existing Radiographer of the Year 2008 and Team of the Year awards, nomination deadlines for which are also fast approaching. The deadlines for these nominations are different for each SoR region, so check the website for detail.
