The NHS Staff Council is extending the period of protection of on-call arrangements for staff on Agenda for Change terms to 31 March 2010.
The deadline for completion of negotiations is September 2009 to allow sufficient time for consultation and NHS preparation before new arrangements could be implemented in April 2010.
The review will ensure that on-call arrangements are consistent with equal pay for work of equal value.
Existing arrangements for on-call can remain in place until new arrangements are implemented.
A pay circular detailing the Staff Council agreement along with the agreed amendment to Section 2 of the Terms and Conditions of Service Handbook has been published by NHS Employers and is also on the Society’s website under the at work on-call section.
The SoR on-call group will be meeting again soon, after the initial meeting of the review partners.
All regions and countries are represented on the SoR on-call group and all reps are requested to forward a copy of their local on-call/stand by arrangements to Vicky Andrews at head office.
