The SoR has welcomed the findings of a research project into the ultrasound 4-tier structure development and skill mix.
'Evaluation of the Ultrasound 4 – Tier Structure Skill Mix Development – Practitioner' is a collaboration between the Department of Health, Yorkshire and The Humber SHA, University of Bradford and University of Leeds.
Rita Philips, SoR professional officer for research, said: "This is a very timely, forward thinking and proactive project which aimed to look at service resign for the ultrasound workforce, and promote the implementation of the full 4-tier framework for ultrasound services.
"The report demonstrates that it is entirely possible to develop specific ultrasound skills in a small cohort of radiography undergraduates so that they hold both xray based and ultrasound imaging skills on qualification."
