Why be a radiology manager in the future?

The SoR launched the fourth edition of 'Imaging & Oncology' at UKRC on Tuesday 3 June.

The annual publication asks eminent authors to identify and chart the issues and trends that will determine the future of clinical imaging and oncology.

Managing editor and SoR director of professional policy, professor Audrey Paterson, said: “The authors were invited to write because they have the abilities to lead and anticipate. None of them presumes to see as far as 60 years ahead to the 120th anniversary of the National Health Service – if such an organisation exists in 2068 – but they do agree that yet more change is inevitable for imaging and oncology services and the professions that work in them.”

This year's articles include:

• The new IR(ME)R regulator, England by Cliff Double

• Independent sector provision of radiotherapy by Sarah Hynd and Karol Sikora

• Radiographer-led diagnostic imaging in primary care: A case study by Leslie Eddowes

• Radiology Academies: Three years on by Matthew Wallis

• Why be a radiology manager in the future? by Lyn McKay

• Delivering 24/7 – The challenge for imaging services by Sue Johnson
