UKRC 2010

Service delivery is top of the agenda at this year’s UKRC, with a host of sessions and satellite lectures aimed specifically at radiology leaders and managers.

The sessions have been concentrated into streams across the three day congress, which takes place in Birmingham from Monday 7 to Wednesday 9 June.

"We understand the difficulties in taking time out to attend conferences," said UKRC President Dr Erika Denton. "Therefore we have organised the sessions in such a way that if you can only attend one day there will be a full programme of interest to you whatever your particular speciality."

The service delivery sessions are wide ranging and topical, from expanding the breast screening service, to increasing quality without increased costs, the new paediatric imaging strategy, and delivering 24 hour imaging services.

A particular highlight for managers and a much-anticipated event in the conference calendar is Professor Mike Richards’ satellite symposium on the Cancer Diagnostics Programme, an initiative that promises to be a major new source of demand on services. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A session including Dr Erika Denton who is also National Clinical Lead for Diagnostic Imaging at DH, and Richard Evans, SoR CEO.

Also of interest to service leaders is the industry-led satellite programme which features presentations on a range of topics from technical advancements in MRI, to new trends in interventional imaging within the operating theatre environment, and making the economic argument for installing a true hybrid PET CT system.
