A number of the Society's sonographer members have been selected for the Health Professions Council (HPC) CPD audit in line with the normal HPC process.
Unfortunately, a recent communication problem within the HPC has resulted in these members being informed that they would not be selected for the audit and should not be registered in the first place. This is, in fact, incorrect.
Sonographers who initially qualified as radiographers are expected to be HPC registered. As registered practitioners they must comply with the HPC CPD standards and audit process. It is, of course, entirely appropriate that their CPD will reflect their current practice in clinical ultrasound and associated roles.
