A former senior lecturer has been named as the editor of the only ‘blue sky’ publication for diagnostic imaging and oncology professionals.
Hazel Edwards, who until recently was at the University of Hertfordshire and is now in clinical practice at the Lister Hospital, Stevenage, has taken up the editorship of Imaging & Oncology, the annual title published by the Society and College of Radiographers.
She succeeds Professor Audrey Paterson, who has been the publication’s managing editor since the first issue in 2005.
Hazel qualified as a diagnostic radiographer in 1988 and worked at Ipswich Hospital before moving to the James Paget Hospital in Great Yarmouth. She became clinical supervisor for ultrasound students from 1999 until she left in 2006.
For three years Hazel taught both undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Hertfordshire in a variety of subjects. She is assistant editor of Ultrasound, the journal of the British Medical Ultrasound Society and is a reviewer for Radiography journal.
“I am absolutely delighted to have been chosen as the new editor of Imaging & Oncology, although Professor Paterson will be a tough act to follow,” Hazel commented. “She developed this journal from scratch and her high standards mean that I will have to work hard if I am to continue to produce a top quality collection of cutting edge articles. However, I look forward to the challenge and to taking this excellent publication into the next decade.”
Imaging & Oncology is published to coincide with the UK Radiology Congress each year. Each issue includes articles from the leading thinkers in diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy. Click here for a digital copy of the latest edition.
