Radioactive substances advisory committee


The Administration of Radioactive Substances Advisory Committee (ARSAC) advises Ministers on applications from doctors or dentists who wish to administer radioactive medicinal products to patients. It is looking for three members to take up post from 1 July 2008.

As a member of ARSAC you will work with the Chair and other members using your experience, expertise and knowledge to contribute to the work of the Committee and to offer appropriate advice to Health Ministers.This may include contributions to the ARSAC Notes for Guidance.

You will be a recognised expert currently working in one of the following fields:

Radionuclide radiology; Paediatric radionuclide radiology; Nuclear medicine (diagnostic and therapeutic)

You will also be a good communicator, able to consider complex issues across all nuclear medicine disciplines and must not be tied to a commercial company in your primary function.

ARSAC normally meets twice a year, in London or Chilton, Oxfordshire. The total time commitment will be in the region of two hours a week.

Members are entitled to allowances for travel and subsistence incurred on ARSAC business, at rates set centrally.
The appointments will be for terms of four years.
