UKAS assessors decide...
The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is looking to recruit and train assessors to weigh up how well imaging services meet required standards for quality patient focused care and are committed to continuous improvement.
UKAS was appointed by the Royal College of radiologists and the College of Radiographers to manage and deliver the new imaging services accreditation scheme, which focuses on the delivery of high-quality care for patients by competent staff working in a safe environment. The process of accreditation will involve peer review against explicit agreed standards and criteria supported by expert speciality advice and input from patients and users.
Suitable applicants will currently work as radiologists, radiographers, radiology managers, radiology nurses, and medical physicists.
You should have at least four years practical experience, preferably at a senior level, working in a radiology/diagnostic imaging department.
The role is voluntary and involves a minimum of 9 days per year. As well as contributing toward your CPD, it will also provide you with valuable training and insight should your department seek accreditation in the future.
Application forms are available at the UKAS website.
