Do you think you could climb to the top and help shape the future of NHS service improvements? If so, then the Leadership Challenge could be for you.
In the spirit of Lord Darzi’s Next Stage Review, the Department of Health is organising a challenge based on fictional, yet realistic scenarios in a variety of health and social care economies.
Ten regional events to be held in early spring 2009 will see teams of AHPs collaborate in a multi-disciplinary way in order to promote creativity in solving the challenges posed. The best performers in each of the events will then go forward to a high-profile, national event in June 2009.
According to Jo Partington, project manager, the legacy of the events will become embedded in the SHA leadership and development cycle.
Jo explained: “It is about promoting the wealth of skills that AHPs have in leading their teams, services, departments, divisions, directorates, clinical programme groups, and organisations, and unleashing that potential.
“You could have the opportunity to shine at the national event, in front of professional, clinical and academic health and social care leaders. You can prove that AHPs can, not only, rise to the leadership challenge, but set the future direction of improvements to services for the benefit of the users of our expertise.”
