NRAG update

- The final report of the National Radiotherapy Advisory Group (NRAG) is being refined and should be with ministers next spring. It is likely that the final report will include capacity recommendations based upon a number of models of service delivery.
- A new subgroup has been established examining issues of capacity and efficiency. It is chaired by Cathy Williams and radiographers are well represented; Donna Routsis, Angie Craig and Charlotte Beardmore. It is due to report to the scenario subgroup in January.
- Work is continuing on refining the radiotherapy occupational standards, with Skills for Health, key to the work of the pathway process group. Margaret Abraham and Angela Duxbury did some work over the summer testing the existing competencies within OS and skill levels required and have informed the group of their findings.
- Brian Cottier of the National Cancer Analysis Team will be repeating the therapeutic radiography staffing survey in December. It is vital that managers complete both this and Margaret Abraham's survey to enable accurate workforce numbers to be developed for future years. Margaret’s survey was circulated by e-mail on 17 November. Please remember to return it as soon as possible.
- It is likely that the second survey from the National Cancer Analysis Team will be circulated after the RES meeting on 2 December 2005.
More information available from Charlotte Beardmore, charlotteb@sor.org or call 01722 741663.
