Kay, who is CT superintendent at the City General Hospital, University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust, was recognised for her efficiency in leading her team through a service improvement drive, an initiative that has led to a dramatic reduction in waiting times. She was also singled out in a patient survey for her dedication to their care and the fact that she is ‘always there to listen’.
“In this sense, the patients have helped us to select this year’s winner,” said SoR President, Hazel Harries-Jones. “Kay is a fantastic example of the way in which radiographers contribute to the care pathway and improve the experience of patients.”
MP Baroness Golding, herself a former radiographer and a member of the SoR since 1953, presented the awards. “It is wonderful to see how much the profession has developed,” she said. “The contribution of radiographers has always been significant and I am delighted to see that we are now getting the recognition we deserve.”
The ceremony saw the regional winners presented with a certificate and a cheque for £100. Each had previously received a Fujifilm F10 digital camera.
Richard Evans, SoR CEO, paid tribute to all the winners and expressed his pleasure at the success of this year’s awards, which were sponsored by Fujifilm.
