‘Storm parliament” on 2 November
Organisers are expecting thousands of MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY campaigners to descend on Westminster on 2 November, to lobby MPs ahead of the World Trade Organisation ministerial meeting in December.
The lobby will put pressure on the UK government to reverse its position on the economic development of third world countries and instead to respect a poor nation’s right to adopt trade policies that help end poverty and protect the environment.
The focus of the day will be a giant queue outside parliament, organised by nation, region and constituency. The queue will start to form at around noon and campaigners are planning a minute’s silence while creating a giant loop around Westminster. Campaigners throughout the afternoon will lobby MPs.
