Half of Aussie radiographers report images – unofficially

Spectrum, the Australian Institute of Radiography magazine, has published the annual membership survey results. 44 per cent of diagnostic radiographers responded (24.5 per cent among therapists). Therapist results are yet to be published.

Diagnostic results:

The largest numbers of respondents work in private imaging centres (32.3 per cent)

79.6 per cent approve the quality of the images before the patient is dismissed;

54 per cent unofficially interpret trauma images for doctors (73 per cent learned on the job and 25 per cent attended a dedicated course or workshop);

50.5 per cent interpret non trauma images;

76.5 per cent perform procedure or orientation training for new staff;

53 per cent provide continuous education for other radiographers.
