Payment by results tariffs

StatueThe table below gives the draft tariffs being proposed for diagnostic imaging examinations. The idea of payment by results is that these prices are fully inclusive, ie they represent the true cost to your hospital of each examination. This will include staff, all consumables, equipment depreciation, servicing and capital charges.

“Theoretically, managers should be able to multiply the activity figures for each examination by the tariff, aggregate them and come up with a realistic budget figure!” comments Richard Evans, the Society’s CEO.

“I am happy to say that the members of the National Diagnostic Imaging Board do not think that the tariffs as they stand at the moment are at all representative and there is to be some work on getting them put right. This is important as your budgets may eventually be decided based on expected activity and the tariff prices,” Richard explains

Many managers have spent time developing accurate costings for imaging examinations or groupings (sometimes based on Korner groups). If you have any up to date versions that you would be happy to share, please contact Richard at richarde@sor.org
