Accelerated career progression from Band 5 to 6

Athlete runningA briefing is to being sent by the Society to radiography managers asking them to support accelerated progression from Band 5 to Band 6 for newly qualified radiographers.

In an accompanying letter from Audrey Paterson, the Society’s director of professional policy, Annex T of the Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions Handbook is identified as being the key document.

“It is our expectation that, much like the linked grade agreement introduced under Whitley, this will bring benefits and opportunities to both service delivery and the profession,” Professor Paterson says.

As well as the letter and briefing, a copy of Annex T: Development of Professional Roles, a guidance document on the future of linked grades, and a policy statement from the Council of the Society of Radiographers, will be included in the mailing.

A similar briefing is also being sent to accredited industrial relations and Agenda for Change representatives, asking them to work closely with managers to deliver accelerated career progression. Another briefing is going out to chief executives of employing organisations and Agenda for Change Leads.
