Protective clothing/uniforms guidance
The Society has issued guidance about protective clothing and uniforms worn in clinical imaging and radiotherapy and oncology departments. Issued with the assistance of the Minority Ethnic Network of the Society of Radiographers (MENSoR) and resulting from an enquiry about protective wear for a female Muslim student radiographer, the document examines variations on grounds of religion or culture.
“Service managers may receive requests from staff to differ from the standard uniform,” points out Alison Hewitt of MENSoR.
“We advise managers to work towards a compromise which accommodates the wishes of the staff member whilst maintaining adequate protection from infection and meeting general health and safety requirements.”
