Are we equal and diverse?

A new survey amongst the allied health professions about equality and diversity found that:

• Two thirds of respondents agreed that the NHS could learn from other organisations in creating effective methods of developing diversity and career progression;

• A quarter thought that the NHS was not working hard to promote equality and diversity;

• A fifth state that equality and diversity policies do not make a difference in the workplace;

• Half do not think that equality and diversity policies make change happen;

• 27% stated that they were not aware of their organisations equality and diversity policy;

• 42% do not think the workforce reflects the local community;

• Two-thirds think that ethnic minorities are not well represented at senior levels.
