HPC radiographers take a leading role
 Gail Darwent, an MRI supervisor at the University of Sheffield, has been elected as the radiography representative at the HPC. Gail hopes to use her position to help increase the profile of MRI radiographers.
"As a specialist modality, MRI can be under-represented on a national scale," she said. "The HPC is involved in important safety and education issues which are also fundamental to MRI."
Gail will bring to the HPC her wealth of experience as an SoR validator for new MRI courses. She is also involved in the work of the British Association of MR Radiographers, which is proactive in developing safety protocols and providing education and training.
Fiona Taylor, the lead radiography manager for independent health provider Capio, is the new alternate member for the HPC. Alternate professional members attend council and committee meetings in the absence of the main representative.
