The SoR has updated its guidance on health and safety and pregnancy.

The document offers detailed information for managers on health and safety legislation, potential hazards, maternity rights and benefits, model policy and risk assessment.

“We would expect to see a heightened awareness of health and safety and pregnancy amongst the radiographic workforce because of the potential risks to patients who may be pregnant," said Kim Sunley, SoR health and safety officer.

"However, it is equally important that staff are protected and this guide makes essential reading for any managers and safety representatives with responsibility for pregnant staff.”

Hard copies of the guidance are being mailed to all health and safety reps.
