Staged 2.5% pay award

Five and ten pound bank notesThe SoR is asking members in the NHS for feedback on the staged 2.5 per cent pay award recently announced.

“All health service unions have collectively agreed to consult with their respective memberships about the staging of the award and feed back this response to the staff council," said Susan Henry, information officer at the SoR.

"Managers and SoR reps are encouraged to ask radiographers' opinion about the staging of this award and the imposition of a 2.5 per cent increase."

None of the national unions believe at the present time there is sufficient support for direct or collective action. However, final decisions will be made once all unions have the results of the consultation.

Since the period of consultation began, it has been announced that radiographers in Scotland are to be given their pay rise in full on 1 April, rather than the staged increase. The SoR and other unions are  calling for the government to follow Scotland's lead.

“Radiographers in England and Wales should not be left out in the cold. They deserve fair and equal treatment,” said Warren Town, director of industrial relations.
