Assistant practitioners' scope of practice

At the computer The use of mobile imaging equipment – and the associated responsibility to monitor the environment and exposure of staff – is beyond the scope of practice of an assistant practitioner. However, those that work alongside radiographers in mobile breast screening units are considered able to do so as long as the radiographer remains responsible for the episode of care.

These are two of the statements included in the SoR's new professional document 'The Scope of Practice of Assistant Practitioners in Clinical Imaging'.

The guidance, which is intended as a benchmark for safe and effective practice, was developed following a consultation process with members of the SoR.
