New government advisor for allied health professions
The Department of Health (DH) has appointed a new chief health professions officer for England.
From 1 March, Karen Middleton will be the government’s most senior allied health professions advisor, leading the allied health professions team at the DH and with responsibility for the 76,000 allied health professionals (AHPs) in the NHS. Karen has been acting chief since the beginning of the year following the retirement of Kay East. Previously, she was the DH's professions advisor.
