RCR/SCoR Radiology Accreditation Programme
SCoR is collaborating with the Royal College of Radiologists to develop a system for accrediting diagnostic imaging services of all kinds within the whole of the UK.
As provision of services becomes more diverse between NHS and independent companies and locations in which services are offered become more scattered, the two colleges are seeking to provide a means by which patients and commissioners can be assured that their imaging will be delivered to the highest standards.
The development project is receiving support from the Department of Health and a number of other partners.
The intention is to create a process that encourages and supports development of best practice in four dimensions of service:
- Patient experience;
- Use of scarce resources efficiently;
- Clinical outcomes;
- Patient safety.
The project web-site is the source for the latest news about progress and background information on the programme.
Of particular interest are the draft standards against which services will be measured. Feedback on these is crucial, so please use the link to the site to review them and send in your views.
