Clinical guardians for outsourced imaging
 The Department of Health is keen to install ‘clinical guardians’ to oversee the Wave 2 independent sector provider work covered in:
- Ultrasound
- CT and plain radiography
- MRI
- PET/CT

These posts entail responsibility for checking the background of those involved in providing this service, overseeing the audit of the scheme and adjudicating on unresolved discrepancies, other problems and complaints. It is envisaged that the work involved would require the equivalent of one to two programmed activities a week and the DH would reimburse host trusts for the time.
