Developing a stroke strategy

Following a commitment by the government to examine the best ways to deliver the newest treatments and improve the care that stroke patients receive, the Department of Health has begun to consult to look at how to achieve this ambition.

Updates on the work of the groups are posted on the Department of Health website. The next stages of development are:

• March 2007 - recommendations from project groups to Ministers
• Summer 2007 - full 3-month consultation on the strategy
• Autumn 2007 - final strategy published 

There will be two regional events to support the development of the strategy. These events will be held on:

• 6 February at the Queen's Hotel, Leeds and
• 22 February 2007 at the NEC, Birmingham.
