AHP career framework input called for
A project to develop a career management framework for AHPs is asking for information about diagnostic and therapeutic radiographers.
The project is being run by Skills for Health, and has three main aspects:
- To develop national workforce competences and ensure they are relevant to the work of AHPs;
- To link AHP roles into the career framework;
- To develop a framework of awards and qualifications for AHPs.
The first stage of the project has been in operation since July 2005, producing a competence framework which reflects AHP functions for all levels and grades of staff.
The project is currently in the process of mapping AHP roles onto the career framework, and has appointed Jane Glennon, a radiographer from University Hospital Birmingham, to populate the framework.
Asking for radiographers’ help in developing the framework, Alison Strode, AHP Programme Manager at Skills For Health, said: “We are very grateful for the information that has already been shared with us in relation to care pathways, but in order to improve the career framework and assign competences to roles we still need information about diagnostic and therapeutic radiographers.
