CPD Now is coming

CPD Now logoThe Society and College’s new on-line CPD tool, ‘CPD Now’, will undergo preliminary testing during the week of 18 April. This will be followed by further development work with the on-line pilot taking place in May. The formal launch of will be at UKRC on Monday, 6 June.

‘CPD Now’ links the planning, undertaking and recording of CPD to professional outcomes and therefore ensures that the CPD undertaken is relevant to and supports the individual member’s professional practice. ‘CPD Now’ provides for management, education and research roles, as well as for clinical practice. The system allows users to have their CPD accredited by the College of Radiographers and is provided for all SoR members at no extra charge.

The system is based on the undertaking of a minimum of 12 CPD activities over a two-year period. Sean Kelly, SoR CPD Officer, commented ‘The on-line system enables members to plan and undertake their CPD activities in a structured way. The basic requirements are time and web access; the system is designed to enable busy professionals to meet their professional and regulatory CPD obligations in the most time-efficient way. Clinical managers are urged to support staff by ensuring that appropriate IT provision and protected study time are available. As a minimum, a half-day a month of protected study would go a long way towards enabling staff to meet their CPD obligations. The Health Professions Council will require compliance with its CPD Standards as a condition of registration from the beginning of next year’.
