Protecting patient information
 Staff who do not respect new patient record confidentiality and security rules will be disciplined. The NHS Care Record Guarantee PDF has been revised following requests from patients and NHS employees for clearer guidance on how patient information should be handled.
As electronic health records became standard, guidance for health professionals and medics about using and sharing information that names patients has been made clearer. The Care Record Development Board, which first published the document in 2005, will be consulting and revising it each year.
