New framework for employing agency staff
 A new national agreement has been launched which stipulates rates of pay and approved agencies for the supply of temporary radiographers.
The agreement by the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (PASA), which covers all allied health professions, was introduced in April and will last for three years. All NHS bodies are being advised to use only agencies on the approved suppliers’ list when seeking temporary staff. The agencies have agreed that the rates they charge will be in line with Agenda for Change bandings. Current spending on agency AHP staff is estimated at £200 million in England. PASA hopes that the agreement will reduce this amount by 14 per cent.
