Threat or opportunity?
The Department of Health has released new guidelines for the next phase of the Choice of Scan programme. From 30 April, it will cover all imaging examinations.
Phase 1 started in November last year and aims to ‘help reduce waiting times for
Urgent and non-urgent diagnostic imaging tests by focusing NHS Providers on validating waiting lists and improving scheduling.’
Richard Evans at the Society would welcome comments about the scheme: Has it woken your trust up to the need to pay attention to radiology services? Alternatively, has it just caused more of a bureaucratic nightmare as requests are diverted to other providers?
Richard represents the SoR at the National Diagnostic Imaging Board and can give feedback to the national leaders for diagnostics.
