Cancer deaths drop for the first time
The number of deaths from cancer in the US has gone down for the first time in more than 70 years, according to new research.
The report from the American Cancer Society says there were 369 fewer deaths in the US in 2003 than in 2002. This marks the first time since record-keeping began in 1930 that the number of deaths has not increased.
“This is an important milestone,” cancer society researcher Dr Michael Thun told the Chicago Sun-Times.
