Website provides KSF clarity
The NHSU (formerly the National Health Service University) have launched a website dedicated to the Knowledge and Skills Framework.
Sean Kelly, the Society's Continuing Professional Development Officer, said, "It's a very clear and easy summary of what the KSF is about. I find the frequently asked questions section particularly helpful. I'm sure many members and managers will find it useful."
The site includes a detailed explanation of the framework, including 'core' and 'specific dimensions', how development reviews work, pay gateways, the personal development plan, the u-i helpline and, for those of us with nothing better to do, a KSF on-line quiz!
He also points out that a KSF section is being written for ‘CPD Now’. It will contain any guidance the Society might issue about the development and application of KSF profiles and, more importantly, will allow ‘CPD Now’ users to log their own KSF into the system and to link their CPD portfolio to this. It is envisaged that this might help members by taking some of the ‘spadework’ out of the preparing of a summary of evidence to support a KSF review. As with the HPC audit process, this would involve populating an electronic template with evidence that already exists in the user’s CPD portfolio.
