What do radiographers contribute to stroke care?
The Department of Health is looking for examples of innovative working by AHPs to inform a new Stroke Care Strategy. A conference is planned for late February to discuss the strategy with all staff groups and highlight good practice.
Despite the vital role of CT scanning, vascular ultrasound and MRI in the process of stroke care and monitoring, little is highlighted about the ways in which radiographers are collaborating in establishing better, more patient centred and responsive stroke services. The new NICE guidelines may well provide opportunities for advanced practice in the acute phase.
If you are interested in attending the conference, or sending some of your team, also if you have examples of radiographer involvement in innovative practice in stroke care, please contact Richard Evans at richarde@sor.org
