Patient led NHS could lead to redundancies
A document that looks at the human resource issues behind the government's commitment to a health service that focuses on the needs of patients, says that ‘organisational reconfigurations will primarily affect administrative and managerial staff.’ However, it goes on to say, "They will not affect those staff who are predominantly engaged in providing clinical services to patients and the public."
The introduction to ‘Commissioning A Patient-Led NHS: Human Resources Framework for SHAs and PCTs' says "(This HR framework) is designed to ensure the NHS is equipped with the right leadership skills and diversity to strengthen commissioning in the NHS, in order to deliver improvements in health and health services. It provides for national consistency in handling the proposed changes if they are approved, and for NHS organisations to plan for the potential impact on staff. It also aims to be sufficiently flexible to allow for local strategies to be used where this is appropriate, and for these minimum standards to be built upon through partnership arrangements."
