Why AHPs leave the NHS

The Department of Health has commissioned the Business School at Loughborough University to carry out research into the recruitment and retention of allied health professionals. Along with radiographers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists have been targeted by the researchers because of persistently high vacancy rates within those professions.
With assistance from the Society and other professional bodies, 4800 questionnaires were distributed in February. The sample of questionnaire recipients was selected to capture the views of professionals working inside and outside of the NHS, and people taking career breaks. The research team is also keen to hear about the experiences of groups that are poorly represented in the professions, such as men and people from ethnic minorities. About 40 respondents who express their willingness to be interviewed will be invited to discuss the issues in more detail with a member of the research team.
If you have not received a questionnaire, but would like to take part in the survey, contact the research team on 01509 223177 or click here.
